This year during summer break, me, my sister, mom, and dad went to India to meet our family. On the trip, we went to three very famous temples in Karnataka. The trip was really unforgettable.

Our journey began in Kerala. Me, my sister, mom, dad, grandpa, grandma, and uncle took a taxi to the railway station. Our train was late so we had to wait some while. The train was overnight. The next day we reached Murudeshwar railway station and took an autorickshaw to our hotel for fresh-up. Then we began walking to a restaurant for breakfast.

We started walking to Murudeshwar temple. When we reached the temple, we removed our slippers and a photographer took a photo of our family. As we entered, we prayed in Shiva’s shrine and all the other shrines. We ate laddus (an Indian sweet). We took an elevator to see the sights of Murudeshwar. I saw a big sea, and also many resorts from the top.

We came down and started to climb the hill to the Shiva statue. While climbing I felt the burn on the bottom of my legs. I saw all the statues and prayed in another temple and came back down. We collected our laminated photo and walked back to our hotel.

While we were walking to our hotel, we ate ice cream. We checked out and took a taxi to our Mookambika hotel.

We directly checked in and headed to the restaurant in the hotel for lunch. Next we took a short nap in our rooms. Later on we got dressed up to go to Mookambika temple. But first, we drank tea, milk, and ate some snacks. Even one of Mangalore Buns. Subsequently, we walked to Mookambika temple.

As we entered, we saw a crowd of people everywhere. We then started praying at all the other shrines around the Mookambika shrine and lit a ghee lamp. Later, when the queue to the Mookambika shrine was less, we entered the queue and reached the shrine in less than 15 minutes. It was a chaos push, pull, fight. Oh my, I should say crazy. The management crew kept on saying, ‘Move on, quickly’, so we didn’t get to pray for more than 10 seconds.

Then I danced and sang at the Goddess Saraswati Mandapam as an offering to God. Later, when the dance and music was over, we again entered the queue again to the Mookambika shrine and did pooja (pooja means prayers) for my chilanka (anklets). While we were in the temple there was slight rain.

After the pooja out of the shrine, we entered the queue to drink medicated water. We got a handful of medicated water. While we were in the temple there was slight rain.Afterwards, we headed to our hotel and ate dinner. We slept for the night and woke up fresh. We started to get dressed. Me and my sister wore our new dhavanis (Indian outfit, half saree). Afterwards, we went down to eat breakfast and bought some flower plates for God while walking to the temple.

We prayed at all the other shrines and entered the queue to the Mookambika shrine. The queue took 45 mins, it felt like forever. We got in, kept our flower plates and prayed. Then, when we got out, we wrote things on rice in the Saraswathi Mandakam. Then we walked back to the hotel and rested for some time. Next, we went to pray in the temple one more time. When we returned, we were packing everything to go to Udupi.

To reach our hotel in Udupi, we had a taxi. Our hotel was quite far from the temple. When we reached we checked in and settled in.Later on,we went to lunch in the hotel restaurant. After lunch, we had a nap and went to get dressed to go to Udupi, Lord Krishna temple. We had to walk quite for sometime then we…

reached. Then we got inside and prayed. But you could only see Krishna through six tiny holes. We circled one more time to pray once more! We walked home, ate dinner and had a good night’s sleep. In the morning, we had a delightful breakfast buffet.Afterwards, we got dressed to Udupi Beach. We took an autorickshaw to the beach, but the beach was closed on the water side, so we just dipped our legs and came back to our hotel.

We packed up and checked out of our hotel. First, we went to one of our relative’s houses. Then we ate lunch at a seafood restaurant. Finally, we went to our friend’s house. Finally, we reached the railway station and had a safe ride home.My favorite part of the journey was going to the Mookambika temple. The trip was super duper awesome, it is one I can never forget.
